IDEAS
My work has always involved making meaning from what I hear, observe, research, and experience. Ideas is a home for the frameworks, questions, and public scholarship that emerge from that process.
These pieces sit at the intersections of research, storykeeping, wellness, Black life, work, memory, and movement. Some ideas begin in interviews or research. Others emerge from years of listening, facilitating, creating, or noticing patterns that I want to understand more deeply.
This is a space for developing those ideas in public. They may continue to grow through future writing, research, art, conversation, and other forms I have not yet imagined.
The Migration of Black Genius
Featured Idea
What happens to what Black people know when they leave the places where their genius has been operating?
The Migration of Black Genius is a developing framework for understanding how Black people and what we know move across space, place, and time. Drawing from six years of storykeeping with Black former educators, I explore what happens when genius moves with the person who carries it, expands in what it can do, and finds new places to live.
